Teachers Courses

Getting the most from the language classroom

Instant Theatre has been experienced by around one million people throughout Europe. By attending our courses, you can acquire our techniques for your classroom.
Each course kicks off with a piece of Word And Action's innovative Instant Theatre. This demonstrates the story gathering technique that participants will be learning.
"Spontanaeity" is the key word in this theatre form which enables the audience to have fun with the English they know. Many teachers have recognised the value of Instant Theatre to help motivate their students.
Imaginative ideas and communicative activities combine to form a flexible methodology which suits the needs of teachers from all levels of education. Although the course is run entirely in English, the techniques learned are equally applicable to other languages.
Great emphasis is put on the questioning technique which forms the basis of the course. Much of the time will be spent on practising this so that teachers feel confident enough to use it in their own environment.
The course focuses on creative activities - explore your own creative potential.
It is practical and active - do not expect to sit at a desk taking notes; you will have plenty of opportunity to try things out!
Individual attention is provided - we aim to keep our courses small in numbers.
It enables you to meet and work with others in the same field - we gather together professionals from all over the world; previous participants include those from Italy, Denmark, and Japan.
The course is run by fully trained course tutors - who have gained a wide range of experience working with EFL students and teachers all over Europe

Participants will:
· learn the rudiments of the questioning (or story-gathering) technique as used in Instant Theatre
· learn how to enable students to use their own ideas in the lesson and gain confidence
· explore Creative Chains - discover how a story told by your students can lead to a range of other activities
· become aware of the importance of the creative approach to education
· discover the potential of working 'in-the-round'
